It is mostly well designed as a pannier, on terms of staying securely strapped to the bike. Love that it is easily made low-profile, so that you can still use your rear rack to hold other things. However, it is ridiculously lacking in interior volume, and the roll-top is a bit messy, compared to other such backpacks I have owned. By making the sides about 2-3 inches wider, this would instantly be a much more useful item as a backpack or pannier. As it is, it is good for a laptop plus a spiral notebook or two, but dont think lunch will fit, without being tightly compressed. Difficult why they would skimp on a couple of inches of fabric to make it this way. Also makes it difficult to find anything inside as you can barely fit (admittedly large) hand inside.

I commute to school four days a week, and this was a perfect purchase. I was worried about quality since this bag is much less expensive than most, but I've been using it for about two months and so far there are no signs of wear and tear. It much deeper than it is wide, so sometimes if I am taking a lot of things with me I will put a bike basket on the other side, but it can usually fit a few notebooks, my computer, a binder, and my lunch. I love the converting backpack straps, it makes it much easier to walk around campus. The outside fabric is rain-resistant. Because the bag is quite deep, the fabric sometimes rubs against the spokes of my bike (making a puttering noise) if it isn't positioned right, which can be a hassle sometimes. Overall a GREAT purchase.

I am updating this review. I have had this pannier for not even a month and the paint/plastic is already peeling off the pannier clips. I had this at a 5 star rating before but I am now changing it to a 4 star rating. I love how easy this pannier hooks up into a backpack! It holds a lot more than I thought it would. I also love the side pockets! I use this bag to commute to college three days a week. It is a great bag and the pannier stays fastened on the bike rack. It is very easy to mount it on!

super light. holds so much stuff (laptop, big headphones, 2 jackets. umbrella, etc)straps onto rear rack really well. balance isn't super affected if you do 1 side as wel after I did a quick test ridel. I'm quite impressed with this for the price point!

Very secure and holds a good amount. The cup holders are great
