Handy for tricky cuts—locks tight, copies curves perfectly
I picked up the Saker contour‑gauge twin‑pack (5 in + 10 in) to box‑in an awkwardly shaped toilet pan, and it earned its keep within minutes. The teeth slide smoothly to capture curves, then the little thumb‑lock clamps everything so the profile doesn’t wiggle while you move to the workpiece. I traced the outline straight onto 18 mm ply and sent it through the jigsaw; the panel dropped in first try—no filler, no swearing.Quality feels above the budget gauges I’ve tried: the ABS pins are stiff enough that they don’t sag, yet fine enough (about 0.05 in) to pick up subtle bumps. The wider 10‑inch bar was perfect for the pan’s sweeping sides, while the 5‑inch insert squeezed behind pipework where space was tight. Depth of the pins is a hair over 2 in, so it covers most household mouldings but not a full skirting board in one pass.Minor wishes: the scale is only in centimeters, and the lock knob is right‑hand only, so a left‑corner reach‑around is a tad fiddly. Otherwise, a genuinely useful addition to the DIY kit.

Spot on the job!
Fantastic great tool for the job, I paid more than the cheaper brands, but worth the money!

A solid tool to assist, but still needs careful hand
It makes the job easier, for sure. The pins are thin enough to give you a good measure of recesses and notches in doorframes, and the locking mechanism is pretty firm. However the lock could be improved. When it is applied, it compresses the pins together and there is some flexion. So it distorts to a minor degree and you lose some preciseness. It is certainly still a very useful tool and this wouldn't put me off buying again.
