Great size, packs well
Overall, I really like this lunch bag. It fits a lot, as advertised. Just for the picture, I packed it with a 40oz jar of peanut butter, an apple, a 16.9 oz bottle of coke, a Rubbermaid Brilliance 3.2 cup Food Storage Container (you can't see it really, sorry, it's under the Coke, apple, and smaller red-lid tupperware) which measures 8"L x 5.25"W x 2.5"H. The red-lid tupperwear measures 5"W x 5"L (the lid) x 3"H (the bottom tapers a bit, so it's only 3.25" x 3.25" on the bottom. But basically, I can stack two food containers that measure a combined 5.5"H and easily close the lid. You can also see that full-size kitchen utensils will fit lengthwise if needed (I prefer that to using disposables). The top compartment is also pretty roomy. I usually keep packs of fruit snacks, raisins, fruit, napkins, and smaller storage containers in that compartment. It's nice to have two compartments, to divide things as needed. It has a little pouch compartment on the front. It fits a little bottle of hand sanitizer nicely -- or you could keeps mints or gum in it. Maybe cookies? It's insulated pretty well. I find that when I need to use an ice pack, things stay really cold. We'll use it on longer car trips (2-3 hours) with ice packs to keep pop cold (like a tiny cooler), and it works great. My only issues with it have been that sometimes it can get top heavy. That could be me, overloading the top -- but even with the bottom half loaded up, it can flip easily when slinging it over your shoulder. I think where the strap connects to the side is designed in such a way that it allows for the end over end spin. Not a deal breaker, but something I am aware of in terms of packing things that might get jostled (i.e. I use food storage containers that won't leak in case it flips over). The other negative is that I tested it as an ice cooler to see if it would leak (in one of the photos, they filled it with ice and pop like a true cooler). It mostly worked for this -- in terms of it holding ice/water and pop and not leaking out of the bottom, it worked wonderfully. The insulated lining is leak proof as far as I can tell. Where it failed me is that I zipped it up and carried it, and because of that tendency to flip that I mentioned, it tilted just enough in carrying it that the water from the melting ice started to leak out through the zipper and got my hip a bit wet. Insulated lining = leakproof. Zipper = not leakproof.Giving it four stars (it would be a five if it didn't flip over enough that I notice it still happens) -- I use it everyday at the office, and sometimes we use it on car trips as a our grab & go snack bag. It looks great, it's not too bulky feeling (and for how much it holds, that's pretty nice), and it does its job well.
