Great BOSE sound.
I connected this to a 6.6’ AGVEE lightning extension to a lightning IPHONE. I can play all my music while charging my IPHONE.

Great for my lightning port iPod Touch
I bought this used sound dock for my iPod Touch 7th generation device. It works perfectly and sounds great. I was using an older Klipsch sound dock with a 30-pin (originally bought and used with my older iPod Classic) along with a lighting adapter. It only worked intermittently with my iPod Touch so I bought this Bose unit. It has cosmetic blemishes since it is used, but it works great. I am very happy with it. However, I am puzzled as to why Bose discontinued this sound dock. Who knows?

This is my third sound dock - love them
I have owned a series I, and still own a series II, and now also a series III Bose SoundDock. I no longer have a stereo or other audio device and use this with my iPod and iPhone for all my audio needs and charging of said devises.Great sound quality compared to similar systems. I use it all the time. The sound quality of the Series III seems even better than the series II, the detail is more precise, the sound seems even more real. Other improvement is the ac adapter, which seems better made and the connectors fit together better. Other change (beside the dock which now fits the iPhone 5), is that it no longer has a + and - sound button on the main body of the devise. You either need to use the sound buttons on the iPhone or the remote. My remotes for my previous models haven't lasted well, so I was a bit disappointed with this, although it makes the model look a little sleeker.I now have one upstairs and one downstairs in my house and am happy. I use an adaptor with my Series II so that I can use either my old iPod with it (without the convertor adaptor) or my new iPhones with the adaptor. You can get a similar adaptor for this to be able to use older models on it, but haven't tried it yet.

Not INTENDED for audiophile use, but sounds truly GREAT for casual listening
IMHO, lots of the criticisms of Bose gear are based on confusion over their goals. Audiophile use, and Casual Listening use are two entirely different things and most Bose stuff is designed for the latter. For casual listening, I generally want the music to FEEL loud and full, but I still want to hear stuff going on around me. I want to be able to hold a conversation without having to turn down the music. Bose accomplishes this with an uneven EQ curve. The sizzle is hyped, the mids are DIPPED reduce clutter in the range of human voices, and the bass is hyped beyond all belief for such small speakers, by using resonances that make it a little vague about the pitch information. For background music when I have a few friends over this is exactly what I want, and this thing sounds truly amazing. The music is crisp and full and it gets surprisingly loud without sounding awful. But when I put on my audiophile hat, I shut the darn thing off because it was not intended for that. And that is OK! My audiophile gear RULES for when I am sitting alone losing myself in the music, and I can run my instruments through it and have them sound great... But it fills up the entire audio spectrum and if anyone wants to talk to me I have to turn it down to half the level of the Bose.Think about what you WANT, and if what you want is casual listening use, then I think that this is a remarkably great choice.

Good sound but serious design flaws make using a hassle
I've been a Bose fan forever and have been buying their products for 30 years. I donated my 30-pin SoundDock when I upgraded my iPhone to one with a Lightning connector. I am so sorry that I did that. In order to use the Series III with Lightning dock, I have to wrestle my iPhone 6+ out of its protective case (like I am going to use an $800 phone without a protective case) and wrestle it back in after listening to music. Plus, there are no controls on the new SoundDock itself, so if you manage to misplace that little remote you are out of luck. It would be easy to design the SoundDock case to have a little pocket for the remote. I am sorry that I bought this product. It would have been cheaper and easier to have either gotten an adaptor for the 30-pin model I already had, or get a Bluetooth model that doesn't require docking. I contacted Bose Live Chat customer service and they recommended that I get an ugly 2 foot cable adaptor (another $25) and gave me a link http://www.amazon.com/Lightning-Extension-Through-dockXtender-CableJive/dp/B00GP08858#Ask. So I've bought the cable but will probably not be so quick to upgrade with Bose again.

I love this speaker!!!
I bought this after borrowing a similar speaker for my daughter's baptism luncheon from my brother in law. I am in school training to be a music therapist and I wanted something I could use for that (which needs to be portable and with my bad back it had to be small and light yet produce good sound), and at home for personal use. Bose has an awesome reputation for good sound in small packages. I have an ipod, ipad and soon will have an iphone. I wanted something compatible with all 3 devices. I did some research on the apple and Bose sites and found this product. Of course, I opted to get it through amazon prime and got free shipping. It arrived in 2 days. It was so easy right out of the box! No hassles! I just plugged it into the electrical outlet, popped my ipod on the little dock and it played. The sound quality is gorgeous and I love the little remote control!!! Straight forward! My only complaint is that it says my ipad can connect using the audio jack, so I need to find a cable that has the little audio jack at both ends. Other than that, this is a great product. It looks great in my living room and does not take up a lot of space. 5 Stars!!
